black and white

By this time you've likely read plenty about what to think about the response to the cartoons. I think Piper's comments here are helpful.

Religious sensitivities are to be respected, but you see in this whole debacle a stark contrast between Christ's response to vilification (to be sure, to a far greater degree than anything that's been published in newspapers of late) and this response.

Anyway, as always, the invitation to discuss remains open!

We are no longer at odds with ideals or religions, but civilizations. This isn't just a religious battle, it reaches into political and physical realms. The Islamic faith has made the statement over and again that they are no longer going to "tolerate" a civilization where Muhammed is not honored. It's no longer a battle for tolerance, but for conversion. Muslims are not attacking us merely because they think we discriminate, but because we are "Christian."

Therefore this has escalated into a war between entire civilazations, Islam against all those who differ. My thought... intolerance will not be remedied through tolerance.
